HOOD & TRUNK EMBLEM REPLACEMENT |
Hood Emblem failures on Saab are quite common on Saab. The typical issue is that the emblems peel leaving a chrome undercoating in place of the emblem itself. Special care needs to be taken when replacing emblems as you will need to use a sharp object to pry it off being careful not to scratch the car in the process. Place a small screwdriver at the base of the Emblem and carefully pry up:Pry up until the emblem comes all the way offClean surface under hood emblem and make sure that the small nylon pieces are in the hood and re-install the new emblemAnother method from one of our customers:I found it impossible to pry loose without paint damage as it uses double stick tape to secure. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the old emblem, screwed in a wood screw (do not go very deep) and pulled up on this to break the tape bond loose. Took a while to clean off the old glue left behind before nstalling the new one. The nylon pieces mentioned above were not used on my 2003 9-3 Linear.
